SEATTLE, Wash. – Alexandrea Morton accomplished something that has been exceedingly difficult for drivers in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series this season. She beat Ashley Force Hood, the first woman ever to win an NHRA Funny Car race and currently the fastest woman in motor racing.

A resident of Des Moines, Wash., Morton was one of more than 18,000 to register to compete in the “Castrol GTX Nationals,” an interactive on-line game through which consumers were invited to design their own Funny Car to race on-line against Force Hood and her 312 mile-an-hour Castrol GTX Ford Mustang.

Her reward? On Thursday, July 16, in advance of the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways, Morton will join Force Hood and her father, 14-time NHRA champion John Force, at Lakewood Ford where she will be presented the keys to a 2009 Ford Mustang coupe detailed with the Cobra Jet appearance package provided by Ford Motor Co.

Although Morton was the random winner of the Ford Mustang, other game winners won prizes ranging from T-shirts to autographed die-casts to gift cards to electronics from BrandSource. More than 10,000 prizes were awarded during the contest, which ran from Feb. 1 to April 30.

According to Tracy Drelich, Assistant Promotions Manager, who coordinated the contest for BP Lubricants, Inc., the game attracted over 115,000 unique visitors and was played more than 201,000 times.

In addition to the official presentation of the grand prize, Ashley and her father will participate in an autograph session at Lakewood Ford , with the event starting at 7:00 p.m. Thursday and Castrol will raffle off Castrol GTX hats, diecasts and other memorabilia as well as 10 pairs of tickets for Sunday’s event.

Lakewood Ford is located at 11503 Pacific Highway Southwest in Lakewood, Wash., just off Interstate 5 between Tacoma and Olympia.
